I love this prusik.  The purcell prusik can be used as an adjustable lanyard as needed.

There are a few variations out there, one being the Single Strand Purcell Prusik.  I have yet to try that one.

In the picture, you will see that I tied it and used it as a shoulder strap for my duffel bag.  There's probably other simple knots that could achieve the same goal, but I wanted something that I could adjust (depending on how up or down I wanted the bag).

I'll post a video of how I learned to tie it, and what I've seen along the way.
