Whats up everybody!
Well, the knot that saved me today was the running bowline. Trying to grab a blanket that got hung up on a wall (out of reach), trying to knock it down with a metal stake, then tying a running bowline in a small diameter rope and reaching with the stake, pulling to cinch it tight, then pulling down at the right angle, pulled it straight down.
Now, you could use the running bowline (in this instance it worked), or you could tie a simple overhand and feed the rope through the hole..
I remember one of the first knots I learned to tie was a slipknot. I found out how to tie it on my uncle Bob's computer. Here is a video of what I remember learning.
There are many different ways to tie a cinching knot... The concept is there. Just picking the one you want to use, and the one that will work for what you are trying to do, should do the trick.
Check out my video on deconstructing/ reverse-engineering the running bowline to remember how to tie it... Without practice, its easy to forget.
Try to remember that its just a bowline around the standing part of the rope.
