Found this picture from around this time last year... I know I was pre-rigging something... But having a hard time telling what it was...
My goal is to rebuild it (based off the picture) and see what it does.
If I'm thinking right... This might have been a skate block or something...?
Update coming soon.
*Update (6-19-2024):
Ok, so... this has recently come up in the field. I was helping set up a ropes course and we decided to look at our rescue kit. It was prepackaged and ready to deploy. The only possible problem, was that there was a lot going on with it.
In the heat of the moment, unpacking it, hooking it up correctly, and having it work right are all things that need to happen quickly and efficiently.
This brings me to my next point.
Have you ever popped the hood of a car or machinerey and seen pulleys with belts going around it. Usually, there is some type of diagram showing how to put the belts back on the pulleys. Here is an example (need to upload picture).
If you have a prepackaged kit, built and ready to go... You should also have some type of diagram or cheat sheet along with it — in case you forget how to hook it up, a new person has to hook it up, adreneline, rescuer confusion... heat... time between using it, a lot can jam up the system.
I'm a gigantic fan of laminated cheat sheets. The JAG rescue kit had a great cheat sheet laminated and in a "window" on the outside of the bag... Something like this, or a sheet hanging off to the side, carabinered to the bag, would definetely help when the time comes.
Also, like the title of this post says... "What was I doing?" This would eliminate the question from being unanswered.
Does this kind of stuff help you, or have you ever ran across something like this?
