Going through some gear working on my inventory and decided to address retiring gear.
I've had this harness and helmet for a long time and at this point, they shouldn't be used anymore. I remember hearing about "retiring" gear when I first started climbing but thought that was so far away (time-wise), that it wouldn't come up for, forever.
Well, as the saying goes... "Time fly's!" and it sure does.
So, as far as the harness goes... Something our good bud Patrick recommended, was cutting it in a way that recycles it and turns it into a gear sling. This is perfect!
I get all sentimental with stuff, but also am learning to let go of things. This is a good idea and will turn this stuff into something useful.
The helmet... I'll probably hang it up somewhere, or use it on the dummy.
Our local gym had a bin of retired rope scraps for FREE. Good for practicing tying knots.
In Part 2. I'll go over some ways of identifying various gear... What to look at, where to find info., and how to find the age, etc...
Until next time.
Adios, amigos!
